Asian American Native Hawai’ian Pacific Islander (AANHPI)
The Asian American Native Hawai’ian Pacific Islander group is gathering 10-20 people who identify as Southeast Asian; South Asian; Native Hawai’ian/Pacific Islander; mixed race/hapa; East Asian with other intersectional identities such as class, language, spiritual background, ability, gender identity, queer identity, formerly incarcerated, immigration status, education level and more to deepen in relationship and community.
For too long, our identities and stories have been told by a larger power structure and institutions that did not recognize our communities’ experiences, histories, or humanity. Beyond this period of racial reckoning, our presence is critical to re-envisioning a new world that we are building as we come to terms with the racist and extractive history of this country.
Through this six month journey, we will unearth, create, & re-imagine as we build community, share stories, and explore questions of homeland, migration, acculturation, and taking root in new lands. We will engage in the following practices: storytelling; connecting to spirit & ancestors; art response; sharing food & memories of food; connecting to land & food sovereignty.
