Interracial / Multiracial / Mixed Race

We are developing a podcast which features the voices of Interracial/ Multiracial/ Mixed Race Youth. As we envision a world decolonized, we recognize that it will be today’s young people who take the lead. We will be educating the youth about the history of so- called “miscegenation” in this country and the Loving v. Virginia trial that made it possible for them to exist, legally, as the children of interracial couples. We plan to bring all of the youth who share their voices to the Loving Day celebration on June 12th in VA, 2022. On the podcast, the youth will be discussing their individual experiences with being multiracial. In highlighting the voices of young people, we hope to bring a fresh and relevant perspective on mixed race identity while empowering these youth to define themselves. We want to uncover the unique realities that come along with being human and living in a racialized society, when you identify as multiracial. Our hope is to uplift the voices and narratives of mixed race people in order to create opportunities for expansion around the understanding of race.
